Since March 2012, Ambareen is the CEO of Souqalmal, the first regional online comparison site for financial and non-financial consumer products, listed among the Top 10 most promising UAE start-ups by Forbes Middle East and as one of the Top 100 most promising SMEs by Dubai SME. The site allows users to search and compare over 1,000 products and post their views on the products they currently own.
In parallel, Ambareen was selected to be a member of the “Task Force on Digital Financing”, a UN-led global initiative focusing on the role of FinTech in sustainable development. She fulfilled these responsibilities from 2018 to 2020.
Ambareen has a rich international experience. Starting in Oceania, she founded RenFast Australia, an online property portal for international students, before joining GE to expand its business across Australia and New Zealand. Moving to London in 2004 to work for GE’s financial arm, GE Money, Ambareen has held various roles in marketing, financial literacy, customer advocacy and e-commerce. Moving to the UAE in 2008, Ambareen worked as a consultant for Bain & Company Middle East. She went on to set up the consulting arm of MasterCard Middle East and Africa, where she stayed for two years.
Ambareen has been awarded “Woman Entrepreneur of the year” by The Entrepreneur magazine and won the Emirates Women Award by the Dubai Government.
She holds a Master in Business Administration from INSEAD and a Bachelor of Business in Information Systems from RMIT University.
