Elyas Algaseer is MUFG’s Managing Director holding the post of Chief Executive Officer of Global Corporate and Investment Banking (GCIB) MENA and Co-Head of DIFC Branch – Dubai.
He started his MUFG career in 2013 as Deputy General Manager of DIFC Branch – Dubai, and in 2016 was promoted to Co-Head of DIFC Branch – Dubai. Thereafter, he became a member of MUFG’s oil and gas sector committee which plays a central role in navigating the franchise in the energy space.
At MUFG, he is also an Executive Member Committee of the bank’s Global Corporate and Investment Banking (GCIB) council since 2017. He also has various responsibilities such as EMEA CIB Management, Deal Screening Quorum and a member of Global Asset Liability Committee (GALCO).
He has more than 30 years of extensive knowledge and experience in Global and Capital Markets in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the UK. He joined Credit Agricole Indosuez in 1990, and stayed on during its transition into Credit Agricole CIB. Based in Saudi Arabia for 5 years from 1991, he handled different mandates and managed the Global FX for Corporates in the region. In 1996, he assumed responsibility as Head of Marketing for the Middle East, based in London. In 2000, he relocated to Bahrain to support the bank transitioning from a representative office into a full branch, to eventually becoming the CACIB Headquarters in the Middle East.
He assumed several executive responsibilities and roles in the bank ending with being the General Manager of its Bahrain branch, as well as the Head of its Financial Institutions Coverage for MENA, after the bank’s relocation to Dubai.
He graduated from a Master of Science in Economics and Finance from the University of Hull in 2009.
